resorts, Palma Nova, Mallorca
Palma Nova, Spain

Definitely one of the most popular and well known resorts on Mallorca...and you can see why! Holidaymakers enjoy a long white sandy beach backed by a wealth of modern cafe bars and restaurants.

It’s a resort that knows how to treat its visitors well. Add to this the easy access to the upmarket port area of Palma, fabulous shopping opportunities and sightseeing in the vibrant City and if you want to shake your ‘booty’ ‘til dawn then the clubs of nearby Magaluf won’t disappoint.
Palma Nova probably has something for everyone...especially families or couples looking for a quiet escape from Magaluf during the daytime. And it’s getting quite an upmarket feel lately with plenty of stylish eateries and bars – so one for the shortlist perhaps?

Beach:

Probably one of the main reasons this resort became so popular. Long, sandy and shelving gently into the clear waters of Palma bay it gives a tranquil feel to the resort. Even in the height of summer there’s space to be found and in the cooler months, when there’re less bodies, its stunning beauty can be fully appreciated.
Backed by a modern promenade (paseo) it’s well equipped with everything you’d expect; sun beds, water sports, pedaloes etc and it's extremely clean given the numbers of holidaymakers that use it in the main season.

Nightlife:

Gentler and a little more grown up than Magaluf, which is within easy walking distance. It's centred mainly around restaurants, quieter bars and strolling along the seafront. Palma Nova is a great choice if you like to be near the action in Magaluf or Palma City but also want the choice of a more relaxed resort that gently winds down at Midnight.

Who goes there:

Very popular with all ages as it really can cater for all tastes. Families love it though and many return year after year whilst at either end of the summer season it is loved by older couples escaping the winter chills.

Accommodation:

Excellent choice of hotels across all standards, less so apartments - probably due to the resort developing in the days before self-catering.

What to do:

  • The Dolphin Show at the nearby Marineland is very popular with all ages and is within easy travelling distance.
  • In the next resort along, lively Magaluf, are two cracking water parks that offer thrills and spills to delight the young at heart choose from Aqualand: www.aqualand.es where you can let the kids loose or www.westernpark.com where ‘The Beast’ will leave you breathless! If you’re an adrenaline junkie do both!
  • Visit the House of Katmandu, Magaluf’s latest attraction which gives more than a passing nod to Raiders of the Lost Arc type adventure: http://www.houseofkatmandu.com
  • For an evening to remember why not take in the famous Pirates Show which has a life-sized ship as a backdrop. This show has been performed for years and has wonderful reviews year on year. Make sure you book the right show if you’re taking the kids though as they also do an ‘adult only’ performance...oh Matron!!
  • Mini Golf reaches a higher plain with the Fantasia golf complex! Located within a luxurious setting of fountains, gardens, waterfalls and caves it might be hard to concentrate on playing any of the 3 18-hole course.

Psst! Due to the competition amongst bars and eateries prices in Palma Nova are often lower than elsewhere on the island. Look out for ‘Happy Hour’ offers and ‘Set Meal’ menus.
