A quiet, picturesque resort that is perfect for that ‘get-away-from-it-all’ holiday. Dramatically set amongst stunning scenery it has a gentle ‘informal’ air about it that brings people back time and again.
Relaxed bars and excellent seafood restaurants mingle with a few tasteful shops ensuring there’s enough to entice you out of your holiday accommodation.
Originally a fishing village it still retains much of that character but the real draw are the white beaches spectacularly placed along the coast to provide a stunning view of the surrounding dramatic cliffs.
Beach:
Four small sandy bays nestle between rocky outcrops where inlets of crystal clear water offer excellent bathing and snorkelling.
Cala Barques is the main one but you can walk to both Cala Clara and Cala Molins both of which are a little more secluded. All have good facilities including one or two beach bars so just take your pick and settle down for the day! Cala Garbo is to be found a little way out of the main resort and tends to be quieter in the main season if you prefer your own space.
Nightlife:
There’s a smattering of bars and restaurants but the nightlife is fairly quiet and laid back. Buzzing Puerto Pollensa is close by though if you feel like a change of tempo!
Who goes there:
Mostly couples holiday here as there’s not much to entertain children in the evenings but some families do enjoy the simple holiday lifestyle centred around the beaches.
Accommodation:
A small selection of hotels and apartments. There are also a number of private rentals as the area has many privately owned villas.
What to do:
- Experience market day in Puerto Pollensa (Wednesdays) and then hike up the treelined Cavari Steps before enjoying a slap up lunch.
- Mountain bike routes criss-cross the countryside around the resort so hire and bike and get out and about
- Plenty of walking routes exist for hikers - just ask at the nearest Information Centre
- For a livelier evening take a trip into nearby Puerto Pollensa or explore Pollenca town
Fiesta:
see nearby Pollensa for details of fiestas
Psst! Cala San Vincente is home to a small number of Bronze age cave dwellings known as pre-talaiotic necropolises...now that’s a mouthful!
